Help to Vulnerable Girls in East Timor

Father Paul Wilkin, a Salvatorian priest serving in Indonesia, shared the following “good news”.

Periodically he is required to leave Indonesia when his visa expires. He travels to East Timor until a new visa is approved. The MDR Sisters have offered him hospitality during those times. While there he saw the efforts the Sisters are making to repair damage to their girls orphanage from floods that occurred three years ago. They are also expanding the building since they take care of young girls who have lost parents during wars that went on for decades. It is recorded that over 200,000 people died in those years.

Now the Sisters also take in girls who have been abused and forced to work in the fields, depriving them of education. In solidarity with the efforts of the Sisters, Fr. Paul donated money to assist in the construction efforts and also to provide funds for art supplies for the girls. Fr. Paul has a background in graphic design, photography and art; he hopes those talents can also develop in the children being helped by the Sisters.

Thank you, Fr. Paul, for active caring!
